Natural Bridge

Natural Bridge is a massive rock formation in Rockbridge County that forms … well, a natural bridge. (U.S. Route 11 literally goes on top of it.) It has been included as one of the “Seven Natural Wonders of the World.” It is currently in private ownership but is in the process of becoming a state park.

To Seek a Thousand Treasures

I have written several times about Governor Terry McAuliffe’s goal of preserving 400,000 acres during his term. (See here and here.) This goal has been quite tentative, to say the least, during the past year or so. But now we finally have a definite answer as to Governor McAuliffe’s conservation goal for his term:

Instead of preserving 400,000 acres, he wants to preserve 1,000 treasures.

Virginia is an exceedingly beautiful state. It has a wide variety of topographies and vistas, ranging from the Atlantic coastline to the mountains. In fact, it has such a wide variety that describing it all in a reasonably succinct fashion can be quite difficult.
